15 Years of Scarefest at Alton Towers Line Up 2022

The line-up is concluded and all of the scare mazes have been revealed for this year’s event. It is 15 years of Scarefest which is big, of course! So, what does this years line-up consist of?

The Attic:

Returning for another season is The Attic. Although last year’s run-through was relatively disappointing the location & atmosphere this maze creates is captivating. When this is on top form it truly is something special.

Darkest Depths:

I’m so glad to see this return for another season. It’s one of my favourite mazes at the park & yet again this is gorgeously themed. There are a lot of respectable jumps scares and the audio is truly spectacular.

Alton Ancestors:

True Scarefest icons. I’m so happy to see they are back given the closure of Duel. I don’t think Scarefest can even run without these, they’ve become part of the furniture for the event.

Altonville Mine Tours:

Surprised to see it return in all honesty. But also slightly glad too. Last year was the first time I fell in love with the maze so I’m biased and thankful it’s back.

The Invitation:

Similar to Thorpe Park’s latest experience this is an audio-lead attraction. For me, I’m not quite sure how to feel about this. But it’s interesting to see something fresh being tried. It also looks & sounds frightening from the promo & description.

Gardens Light Walk: Whispering Souls:

One of the few things we have not yet experienced at Scarefest weirdly enough. I think this has been about since 2020 and is something we need to explore.

Freaky Fun Zone:

Again these mascots are simply iconic and Scarefest wouldn’t be the same without them. I love watching their shows throughout the day in between mazes. Some truly precious stuff from these guys.

CBeebies Land Monster Ball:

We don’t tend to enter CBeebies during our visits but it’s lovely to see the youngest of the bunch getting something too.

Overall:

There you have this years line-up. If I’m honest I’m not completely overwhelmed by it and was hoping for a little more of a shake-up in regards to the line-up. I’m quite sad to see that Toxic Junkyard isn’t making a return as it’s been a stand-out maze for me since its opening. Either way, the 3 returnees are great nevertheless and it’s nice to have yet another year with them. The new experience is going to be one of those things where it’ll be hard to judge before trying.
