Project Exodus is the long-awaited brand new rollercoaster to be built at Thorpe Park. It has been 10 years since The Swarm opened which was the last coaster to be built here. About to beat records & achieve new heights (you’re welcome) for the UK Project Exodus awaits us… So, join me as I speculate about the opening of this project!

At the moment we have hit the stage of the application for the planning permission being submitted to the local council. Unfortunately, it has hit a standstill with disfavour made regarding the flood risks. That in mind has the likelihood of postponing the project by a few weeks until it gets the green light. I have no doubt the park has prepared for these type of hiccups and have it completely covered. With any luck, we’ll see the go-ahead given sooner rather than later, as an impatient enthusiast it’s itching at my brain the craving to watch this thing come together.
Project Exodus is set to become the UK’s new tallest rollercoaster topping the existing which is The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. By any means, it does not mean The Big One won’t remain iconic because it will always be. Thorpe Park was always that park I had in mind to hit the new record for this. Going from the planning stages and what we know so far this looks to be epic.

For me, I’m hoping this won’t be B&M in all honesty going by the likes of Shambhala (don’t come for me) but I’d rather see it be someone else’s ride. The layout looks incredibly fun and has the possibility of reaching the new best rollercoaster to exist here in the UK.
Okay, as for when I predict it to open. Well, assuming the park hit the all-clear point from the council I think we will see it open in 2024. It seems the most realistic timescale to give. The 2023 season will be all steam ahead in construction & late 2023/early 2024 testing. That’s presuming all goes to plan and it can go ahead smoothly. Although it’s impossible to say right now as the project is in such early stages, so please don’t take my word for it!
UPDATE;
Good news! As of late August the Natural England have withdrew their objection. However, there is still an objection by the environmental agency. Meaning this project is yet to have the complete green light to go ahead. Hopefully, more information will be shared shortly. Keep tuned for further updates.
What could the theme be though?… I’ll discuss that next!
