10 Events I’m Hyped For This Season As A Merlin Annual Passholder – Year of EPIC!

The 2022 theme park season is just around the corner, in fact, a matter of weeks away. Something which has become ever-growing is the growth of events across the theme parks and mid-way attractions. Therefore, I thought I’d share the 10 events I am most hyped some of which are new and others are iconic returning events for this year alongside a little peek at the entire event’s line-up for the Merlin Attractions in 2022.

Festival of Thrills – Alton Towers Resort:

Brand new for the 2022 season is the first event of the year for Alton Towers. With it being fresh it’s the anticipation as to what will be included and involved within this event. However, one of the elements which have been teased within the description of this event over on the Alton Towers website was the celebration of the Big 7 rollercoasters and the fact there’ll have music within their individual plazas. Either way, I am confident it’ll become a firm favourite for us as Alton Towers sure know how to host a loveable event.

Mardi Gras – Thorpe Park:

Thorpe Park is taking on a new-for-them event this arriving year. Mardi Gras was tremendous fun over at Alton Towers last season and I am captivated to see how this unravels on the Island Like No Other. It does seem to be more concentrated on the traditional beads aspect of the event which is popular for the Florida theme parks for example.

Oktoberfest – Warwick Castle:

Anyone who knows me will know my fondness for the Oktoberfest style of events. The fact it is even nearer to home this year is exceptionally exhilarating. I love visiting Warwick Castle for new events and I am very hyped to be experiencing this event on these grounds.

Carnival – Thorpe Park:

A brand new event that hasn’t been seen across any of the UK parks until this season when Thorpe Park are the first to host this. I always think Thorpe Park hosts the best “feel-good” atmospheric events. Carnival is teased to be precisely one of them. It is known there’ll be a brand new stage show to watch. The way this event has been marketed so far gives us nothing but enthusiasm to visit to just let ourselves go and flow with the event.

Scarefest – Alton Towers:

15 years of Scarefest and that within itself is an exciting time. It appears there will be a brand new scare maze set to open its doors this season. Of course, we have no idea as to whether this will be an extra maze to the previous amount we have seen before or whether it will seize residency of an existing attraction, a speculation/desire blog posts will be online VERY soon. Either way, it’s an annual tradition for us to visit Scarefest and one of which we will not be retiring that anytime soon.

Haunted Castle – Warwick Castle:

A new-for-us event this year. As we’re getting married in November we have had to cut our Halloween antics to inexpensive and less travel-consuming which has, of course, led us to rough plan to appreciate those nearer to home. I have always found me somewhat drawn to this event but October has naturally always been full but not this year. So, I’m enthusiastic to finally experience this event for the first time.

MARDI GRAAA! – Chessington World of Adventures:

Yet another park is hosting their own version of the event we saw launch over at Alton Towers last season. Chessington events are always worlds apart from the usual interpretations across the other two parks. It’s always very animal-based which is exactly what Chessington is about and that’s why it’s always sensational to see how there’ll merge their own theme into an established theme elsewhere.

Fright Nights – Thorpe Park:

21 years of Fright Night and Thorpe Park have already commenced teasing us… I’m far too hyped for this. Going by last year’s 20th celebrations I can’t help but feel this year will only be on the up. The newest scare maze Trailers was one of the best scare mazes we did the whole Halloween season last year. We are so excited to be getting back in there presumably, this coming season too. I am just exceptionally enthusiastic for the announcement of what can be expected at this year’s event.

Oktoberfest – Alton Towers:

A firm favourite and yearly tradition for us and our pals. This year is no different we can’t wait to get stuck into the popular antics. It occurs this event is evergrowing each year there are developments to ensure it’s larger and better than the prior. I’m eager to see whether this is something that will follow for the future too.

Christmas – Alton Towers:

Last year saw day guests have the choice of visiting for the first time in a long while. The event was sectioned into many areas one of which Lightopia which has already been confirmed to return for the 2022 event as well as the return of the Christmas Market. I am hoping this year’s event is an all in one ticket type to prevent the confusion which happened last season. But it’s wonderful to know there will be something to do and experience during the Closed Season.
