It is never too early to begin speculation in regards to the Spooky season. It’s the highlight of my year and something which I truly live for. Therefore, this year is a big season to celebrate Scarefest and I can’t help but hope for big things to occur to go hand in hand with the milestone!
New Teased Scare Maze:
I am getting proper mummy like vibes from this new scare maze. That really does terrify me. I feel as if this could be the replacement for Altonville Mine Tours as all of the others feel as if they ain’t reached the end of their life’s yet. But I would be gutted to see Mine Tours leave the line up. I’m very intrigued to discover what this maze really is about & where it will be located too.
Iconic Maze Returns:
I would love to see the return of a few fan-favourite mazes from over the years. I’d love the chance to encounter The Sanctuary, The Welcoming Inn & so many more. A big birthday should always be a time to bring back some of those notable mazes just for a one-off. Of course, alongside firm favourites from previous years on the bill too.
Scare Zones Re-Introduced:
Alton Towers need scare zones. Roaming actors are brill but you often have to be in the right place at the right time to gain that interaction, considering how large the park is. Whereas devoted zones for free flow scare zones have often been something I have adored. Thorpe Park has recently really dug their heels into this manner of scares and I hope to see Alton Towers follow in the equivalent path. I’d love to see the return of the Apocalyptic themed one over in Forbidden Valley. There is such an absence of essence over that side of the park during Scarefest since the loss of Project 42. I believe that Thorpe Park has clarified effortlessly there is a genuine calling for this kind of thing especially when there’s paid scare mazes to experience too. It just allows those who are incapable to do scare mazes under any given conditions to still feel a part of the event.
Limited Edition Merchandise:
We are certainly going to get the core fundamental 15 years, that goes without saying. But I would love to see earlier mazes incorporated into t-shirts, pin badges etc.
Nods To Previous Mazes & Characters:
Roaming characters from each of the prior scare mazes would be fab if they aren’t able to bring back at least one of them. Could you imagine seeing people from Project 42 or Sub Species just casually roaming the walkways? That would be ace. A large quantity of scare actors roaming would cease the problem of how large the park is too.
Behind The Scenes Tours:
Last season saw the introduction of this style of offering over at Thorpe Park. It would be truly fab to see something similar at Alton Towers. I think it would be exceptionally popular amongst guests in all honesty.
Overall:
I think given Scarefest is going to enter its 15th year this October we are in for a thrill either way. Especially given there is a brand new scare maze already confirmed. It’ll be epic nevertheless. I know a lot of people weren’t excessively pleased with the line-up which happened last season. But perhaps they were waiting put for this year for some prominent shake-ups. As long as Toxic Junkyard return I’ll be dead chuffed. Admittedly, Altonville Mine Tours has had its hay-day although last year was the greatest I have ever experienced it myself. The Attic ended up becoming the fragile last season for us which was gutting given it was once our favourite scare maze. But whatever this season brings I’m sure it’ll be fun! I can’t wait for the summer months when the announcements begin.
