It’s easy to share your top 5/10 but what really makes them our favourites. What elements, types and positive / negative aspects determine our favourites? By all means everybody prefers different things and there’s rarely two of the same opinions. We hope you enjoy this blog & we’d love to know what determines your favourite coasters.
First Impressions
First impressions always stick and that’s a huge factor in determining our favourite coasters. Wickerman was the first coaster which physically left us speechless therefore it sits so high in our list. Prior to riding we were both confident it wasn’t going to be all that great. Yet it was everything opposite to what we had thought it was gonna be.
Reliability:
If a coaster is consistently down or you join a queue with the doubt it’ll stay open. Then does that make a coaster good or not? Personally I like to be fairly confident it’ll be open by time we finish queuing. Of course general breakdowns can’t always be helped which we get.
Comfort / Restraints:
A lot of coaster comfort are down to restraints and the way they grab you and how free they make you feel. For us lap bars are the most comfortable type of restraints as they don’t make you feel trapped as such. Leg room is another aspect which impacts our ranking. The likes of Colossus is sadly let down by both restraints and comfort due to leg room.
Airtime / Hangtime:
These two elements are the key to my heart. I believe almost every coaster within my top 5 offers at least one of these experiences. I’d happily take both of them over anything personally.
Intensity:
It’s not necessarily key to our favourite coasters yet it does add to enjoyment. Rides like Icon has pops of intensity which definitely add more of personality and keeps it from been bland. The likes of Nemesis & Red Force are prime examples of intensity.
There’s so many factors which can’t be all crammed into this one blog. I’d love to know your thoughts below in the comments.
