Last night we headed to Fright Nights passholder preview and were kindly gifted entry into the scare mazes too. The park was extremely quiet and the atmosphere was delightful but super eerie with the weather being rather misty. Unfortunately, due to the timing of us arriving we didn’t succeed to encounter the entire offering that the event has to give but did do the majority. Without me rambling too much let’s crack on and have a chat about the mazes etc.
PLEASE NOTE THIS BLOG POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM HERE ONWARDS.
The Crows:
Heading into the park we were not so kindly greeted by the terrifying Crows. Genuinely these guys scare the living daylights out of me & of course, I was a victim to their scaring. My fears aside, I can’t criticize this amazing roaming team they are just brilliant in every apparent way. They look remarkable too. I loved the fact they had their own scare zone this year but we ran out of time before we could experience it as we arrived later than the event had started. I would love to see these guys put into their own scare maze in the future though but that being said I doubt I would survive it in all honesty haha.
Trailers:
Rating 6/5
The first maze of the evening had to be the brand new one. It’s safe to say the hype is substantial for this maze. Earlier in the year me & Ant were chatting about what we’d love to see happen for this year’s event and this maze somehow was all we wished for in one maze, it was insane. Each scene of this maze delivered at 100% scares and nothing less. I loved how it wasn’t just one continuous theme all the way and each room had something unique, with a lot of nods to Thorpe Park’s previous mazes. The highlights from the maze for me was certainly Big Top, Asylum & Seven Doll. But the whole maze didn’t require any kind of modifications in my opinion. I found it to be one of the strongest mazes we’ve done so far. I can’t even begin to recommend this maze enough. I really hope we get to see this return next year and for many years to come.
Creek Freak Unchained:
Rating: 3/5
Last year we left Fright Nights with this being our favourite of the evening. However, this year it did feel as if it needed more actors in comparison to before. But those actors we did meet was tremendous and very interactive. We saw a couple heading back into the zone after I assume they had a break and they were brilliant and continued in character inviting us to their little area. The added theming and props across this area was extraordinary. I just had hoped for some actors to keep the scares resuming once exiting the mazes.
Platform 15:
Rating: 3/5
Ah, Platform 15 is constantly one of those hit & miss mazes for us really. However, it was a varied bag for us yesterday. The additional theming that has been added is excellent, atmospheric & in every single sense nerves wrecking. The actors again were completely phenomenal I truly think they are incredible. However, it felt as if there were too few of them on the actor front. There was a lot of opportunities for some drastic scares yet they didn’t arise. But that being said the locations we anticipated the scares to happen in fact the actors weren’t there but in a different location which alone made it so much terrifying. The finale had a minor batching issue but that got promptly resolved and it ended up being fab. A massive shout to the guy who was in front of us who had done the maze 4 times it was lovely to have a chat!
Creek Freak Massacre:
Rating: 4.5/5
I never knew how much I missed this maze last year until I got back inside last night. Wow, what a way to end our evening. Every single time I queue to get into this maze there is this sick feeling of dread in my gut & heart. This time was no different. Back in 2019 I never really had the run-through I had hoped for but getting back into it this year actually made up for that. I can’t believe how many rooms and routes there is throughout, I’m forever appreciative for not getting separated from Ant though haha. The soundtrack for this maze just gives me live every time, the lighting was extraordinary and the sound effects on the exit ramp outside just had me screaming still aha. I’m a sucker for a chainsaw finale and so far this Halloween it was the best by miles. Even the strobe was the best we have done so far. It is one of the best mazes we have in the UK and I’m pretty confident in saying it has some of the best actors inside too. It was astonishing coming out there and I ran for my life from the chainsaw at the end haha.
Birthday Bash:
Rating: 3.5/5
I never knew a pinata could be quite so scary until I encountered a life-size walking one. This scare zone was brilliant it was the ideal mixed between fun yet some decent little scares too. Basically, it was hilariously bizarre but in a favourable way. Pretty much every you’d predict from a birthday party in one area with a fab show on the stage too. I thought the combination of characters was a lot of fun and they were all so interactive in making sure the crowd watching had a nice time and got involved. It’s a great spot to catch a breather and still be in the spooky atmosphere and enjoying all Fright Nights has to give.
Overall:
Fright Nights is the highlight event so far this season for us. I adore the entire package that comes along with the event such as the audio changes across the park, the additional theming, the roaming actors, scare zones and scare mazes. It has it all in one place and last night the atmosphere was remarkable across the park. For me, the highlight attraction is Trailers. It just combined everything into one space and it worked so well. There was even Fright Night themed food one of which was at the Donut Factory. Overall this event was brilliant and easily our favourite year for Fright Nights so far.

Thank you so much for reading & thank you to Merlin Annual Pass & Thorpe Park for gifting our maze entry last night.
