After the considerably low-key Halloween season, a lot of us had in 2020, I knew I had to plan this year to be bigger & better than before. But also to ensure we support as many of the scare events & companies as we possibly can without putting ourselves out. So, upon my mission to plan this October to be filled with new for us, Halloween events & returning to some classics here are how it’s shaped out to be!
I began planning our Halloween season in early February to ensure we get to the majority of the events we want to visit secure. But also planning means you get the tickets for bargain prices in the early bird sales that happen for anyone looking for 2023 tips.
Alton Towers Scarefest:
Alton Towers is a yearly tradition for our household. We have been visiting for something like 5 years now and that involves my pre-scare maze era where I was too nervous of them. I know this years line up has seen no alterations in regards to scare mazes from last years. However, we are all so delighted to get back in some fab mazes. I’m looking forward to seen the alterations that have been made to Darkest Depths for the age increase that has occurred. As well as the return of The Freakshow Toxic Junkyard! Basically we are super enthusiastic to get back to one of our favourite events of the year!
Fantasy Island Fear Island:
After our first visit last year we weren’t blown away by the scare mazes. However, for this season there has been an entire transformation in the line up with a a lot of fresh additions which has got our interest peaked. Therefore, we’re heading back end of the month to check out the differences that have been made but also to experience the fab Vekoma rollercoasters! The scare mazes for this year sound & look fantastic from all the teasers we have seen.
Journey to Hell Blackpool Pleasure Beach:
We have kindly been invited to the preview evening for this event and it’s also the first time doing it! We have previously done Vampire Beach pre-Journey to Hell days. This event is possibly one of my most anticipated given its incorporation of selected rides as well. I’m intrigued to see how I find Icon whilst being blinded folded not to forget the fact they also have River Caves amongst the line up which I am probably dreading the most as it’s like my worst nightmare. It’ll be fascinating to see how this event runs & what each scare zone & the scare maze is like. I’m so excited to experience it all for ourselves.
Xtreme Scream Park:
This event kickstarts our Halloween this year & I’m sceptical if that’s the cleverest of ideas I’ve had but I am so incredibly excited to return to this scream park. Back in 2019, we had rather varied feelings of mazes but strictly speaking, we cherished it a lot. I’m so glad to see some of our favourites return to the lineup alongside some newbies too. It’s also fantastic to see they’ve developed a scare zone to add to the mix which I suspect will be great to mess around in-between mazes. I loved the atmosphere of this scream park & it’ll be nice to see my mums & cousins reactions to the mazes we are familiar with!
Tulleys Shocktoberfest:
2020 was far from the same without Tulleys. It was the event we were most delighted to get back to last year and we were devastated when it couldn’t go ahead, for reasonable reasons, of course. However, it makes my heart feel full to know this event is going ahead for this year and we have tickets alongside fast tracks to embrace the mazes. I’m so chuffed to see so many of the iconic mazes from 2019 return but also a tad bit sad to see the loss of The Wreckoning yet really intrigued by its replacement. In 2019 we didn’t manage to experience Chop Shop or the Cellar therefore we are so grateful they are back for this year. I can’t wait to be amongst the cracklings bonfires & autumn air whilst taking in the atmosphere here!
Thorpe Park Fright Nights:
This is more or less a last minute trip we’ve added onto our list for the passholder preview evening. But we are so enthusiastic to get back to Thorpe Park especially as it’s their 20th year of Fright Nights. It’s super exciting to see some of the previous years offering return such as the crows (they are VILE) and Creek Freak Unchained. But also amazing to see Creek Freak Massacre return as well. I am certainly, most hyped for the brand new maze for this year as I just got this feeling it’s going to be extraordinary and could well be one of our favourites this year. I can’t wait to report back on our thoughts on this event!
Screamfest Burton:
A bucket list event for us which we have been meaning to visit for years & we have FINALLY booked on to visit. I have always heard such positive things from these mazes that we are so excited to be experiencing it for ourselves. One maze we are most hyped for is Love Hurts!
Farmageddon:
It wasn’t initially a part of our plan for October yet we couldn’t suppress the impulse to book once the early bird tickets were released. Again it’s another event we’ve heard so much good about and have wanted to visit for years that it was impossible to not book onto. I’ve tried to suppress researching about the event too much as I want the mazes to be a surprise for us all, so I am apprehensive about it yet so excited as well!
As always I will be sharing trip reports as and when we visit these events to share our opinions with you guys! So keep your eyes peeled for a very busy October upload schedule!
Have you planned out your Halloween season yet? Are we visiting any of the same events? What are you most hyped for? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments or across our socials.
