So last year before the UK theme park season kicked off I shared a blog post highlighting some things to remember whilst heading back to theme parks again, turns out since then the world is a very different place. Therefore I’m writing a more up to date version to share with you all. I’ll pop the last version HERE if your curious and wanted to have a read. But without further ado let’s get on!
Pre-Book Your Tickets & Don’t Be Selfish:
This is the key thing to remember during this year, pre-booking is essential. It doesn’t matter if you hold an annual pass to any park because you still have to pre-book. Even though I think quite a few parks have perhaps solved the hoarding issues that happened last year, it goes without saying don’t secure a date when you are not 100% sure you’ll be going. It is not fair on other people and means they could miss out. Be organised and pre-book dates you know you will use.
COVID Changes:
Pretty much every park will have updated their website in regards to any changes made to how they operate and what they expect from the guest regarding COVID. So I’d recommend checking over any theme park you plan to visit to ensure you are aware of these changes and if there is anything specific that is expected from you, aka face covering on select rides, temperature checks etc.
Be Respectful:
This goes for everyone you encounter. Be kind to any staff member you encounter this is a fairly new situation for us all and there’ll no doubt be brand new members of staff in training too. So just remember and treat them with respect the same way you would like to be treated, they are still human after all. Also, be respectful of those around you especially within indoor spaces and queue lines. Simply being aware of the social distancing markers and making sure your keeping your distance from everyone around you.
Stay Safe:
Using the hand gels, obtaining a safe distance from those around you and just abiding by the rules will not only keep you safe but those around you too. Theme parks are equally as fun during a pandemic as they are in normal times, but it’s so important to make sure you are being safe.
Breakdowns Happen & Height Restrictions Are For A Reason:
This ties in quite nicely with both of my last points. Staying safe simply by following the rules can then decrease the chances of guest caused breakdowns, it’s that simple. But also these rides are mechanical and technical machines, they aren’t going to run all the time and forever. Breakdowns happen. It is not the staff’s fault they have no control over any kind of fault that occurs. Therefore treat them with respect, don’t go yelling at them because your favourite ride is closed for any sort of reason. Also, something I have witnessed first hand is people screaming at staff members because their child wasn’t tall enough for a ride. The height restrictions are in place to keep your child safe, therefore there is no need to scream and shout about it.
There are a few pre-season reminders for the 2021 theme park season but also theme parking during a pandemic! Feel free to add anymore point you guys think of in the comments or across our social media accounts.
Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a fab 2021 theme park season!
