It’s almost the end of August and it’s that time of year I get in the Halloween mood. I’m unsure what it is about this time of year but it’s when I get into full swing of planning and buying Halloween stuff. Therefore it felt rude to not have a chin wag about the mazes I feel are the “best” in the UK. This blog could well be a lengthy one or a short one it depends if I can shorten my list down basically. Either way I’d love to hear your favourites in the comments or across our socials.
Before visiting & experiencing this maze I genuinely had extremely low expectations. I almost expected nothing from it in all honesty. I’m unsure whether it’s the fact I’m not a fan of the film or the fact I didn’t think this maze would be something which I personally found scary. However by the end of the maze I was surprised by how scared I was. The fact we lost our group in the woods and kept going down the wrong paths made it a lot more edgy. I was so tense the entire time. The finale house was when the scares got very intense for us. Me & Ants mum ended up falling on our asses in fear at one of the scares. It was truly something else to what I had expected and perhaps that’s why I rate it so highly, not to forget the actual set pieces been legit overgrown bushes & trees!
Opposite to Blair Witch but I had high expectations for this maze prior to experiencing it. So much so I was afraid it would disappoint at the smallest flaw. Yet it didn’t. I’d go as far to say this was one of the most intense mazes I’ve ever encountered. The peculiar places where the scares come from was exactly what I had hoped for. I mean come on an actor coming out of a mattress is pretty much genius. The sparks from the chainsaw within the strobe maze section was breathtaking in all honesty and almost reduced me to tears. All told an insanely beautiful but intense which I still have nightmares about now!
Okay, the mazes at Xtreme Scream are horrifically long which is traumatic in itself. But a finale inside of a church with rows & rows of dummies mixed in with actors is not okay. Strictly speaking I can never go near or pass a church which having a little shiver. It genuinely traumatised me. The entire maze was tense but then entering that finale was something else. I couldn’t handle the not knowing what’s real what’s not and the preaching victor above us. Oh it was immense. It’s just simply one of the best mazes there is on offer in the UK.
Last year was the first year taking on the big boy mazes at Towers therefore I can’t comment on previous years. However this maze was so much more than I ever expected. The setting is perfect for so many reasons, it’s already eerie in the Towers as it is. But the fact it’s called “The Attic” and you legit climb a few stairs to get to the maze itself is even better. The theming throughout was something else it was atmospheric and eerie especially those creepy ass toys in the bedroom scene. You’d never know it was set pieces as it all felt so real like you were actually in someone’s attic. The actors were always top form the 2/3 run throughs we had, not one bad run through at all.
Nope, not one other strobe maze the entire Halloween season last year came as close to this one. It was stupid in all honesty. The length of that strobe section almost finished me off. The entire build up to that finale was nerve wrenching. The scares until the finale felt quite spread out, but that was definitely made up for. I never held on so tight to Ant like I did during this. I just remember wishing it would end. I’ve never felt anything so trippy or tense like I did those strobes and the actors worked so well with it too.
There’s a handful of my personal favourite scare mazes I’ve experienced. I’d love to hear yours!
