Queue Boards & Theme Park Apps

I feel this is something that’s hardly spoken about yet it’s such an important part of any theme park trip right? Maybe that’s just us I’m unsure. But let’s have a chat!

Queue Boards / Times:

I personally think advertising queue times are beneficial. We often use it as a guidance as to making the most out of our days out. Simply acknowledging those rides nearby each other and understand where to begin first depending on the lengths of queues. Of course these queue times can sometimes be wrong & misleading. Sometimes for the better with a higher advertised wait then there actually is. Other times the opposite way round. It’s also helpful to know what’s open or closed. As if your in a theme park as big as Alton Towers often you can’t see the rides and what is operating therefore relying on these boards really does have an impact.

Parks such as Drayton Manor & Blackpool Pleasure Beach would really benefit from these too. We often find judging Drayton Manor queues quite hard. As the majority are indoor and it’s always a hit & miss on whether you’ll join whilst it’s quiet or rammed. Pleasure Beach would be fab for keeping up to date with closures. There’s nothing worst then heading towards a ride to find it’s closed. It would also be fab for those who don’t visit often who may be put off by the sight of the queue. Look at Icon, for example, the queue may be overflowing but actually, it’s only 20 minutes.

Apps:

I’m all here for theme park apps. The amount of benefits they have are immense especially going by the merlin park standards. There’s exclusive discount on items, easy access to queue times and a park map for anyone who’s new to the parks. I’d love to see both Drayton Manor & Pleasure Beach have these sort of apps. I know Drayton last year releases their app but it would be fab to include the likes of queue times. It just makes any theme park trip so much easier.

Of course we understand this has cost as well but it’s just something we’d love to see more of across the parks. Let us know your thoughts on this topic!
