Closed season is that time of year when the UK theme parks closed for their winter maintenance and all us enthusiast dread. We thought we’d share what we do during closed season. Hopefully it might help anyone who’s a little bored or stuck for things to do. Let us know what you do during the winter.
Trip Planning:
It’s the perfect chance to plan trips for the following season or two. The only issue is some ticket prices or packages aren’t always announced/released. However it’s always good to over plan financially. Trip planning really does help to drowned out those closed season blues. It’s always great to be organised for future trips as when booking early there can be some decent savings.
Planet Coaster:
For anyone who enjoy playing games and been creative with theme park related stuff. It’s a great way to kill boredom whilst creating your own theme park. We’re hoping to share planet coaster related blogs in the future if we could figure a way to make it work. We’d love to see what you guys create too so be sure to share your creations via our social media accounts.
Half Term Events:
Thankfully our local is Drayton Manor who host a February half term. We are season pass holders which mean we can visit whenever. Other parks do hold these events too. We really love to embrace the smaller rides and attractions we wouldn’t usually ride during main season.
- Attractions & Zoo’s.
We are very local to various attractions. Every year we try to visit attractions such as Cadbury World, Twycross Zoo, Warwick Castle and Birmingham Sealife. There’s new Merlin attractions opened in Birmingham. Those who live in the Midlands there’s a few places which are pretty cool to visit locally. There’s always the options of catching the train or driving to other attractions, zoo or travelling fairs. Around Christmas time there’s various Winter Wonderland travelling fairs to attend.
Money saving:
Closed season is a great chance to save money for your theme park trips next season. If you have big dreams which need a lot money it’s the ideal chance to save without missing out during main season. There’s always plenty of sales during Winter time. A lot of sales include flights and theme park hotel / ticket & season pass offers. We’ve recently purchased our Pleasure Beach season passes which is a big saving for us during 2019. We’d recommend keeping an eye out during these sales.
Alton Towers Waterpark & Golf:
This is something we love to visit during closed season. The waterpark is fully heated indoor and the outdoor pools are heated too. We last season had a full day of fun in the waterpark. If you do visit and own a digipass make sure you take it with you to collect your Master Blaster photo. There’s some fab discounts for Passholders for both attractions. Whilst visiting you can always pop to the Rollercoaster Restaurant. It’s a great way to see the small amount of winter maintenance amongst the rides in Forbidden Valley.
We hope this has helped anyone stuck for what to do during this time. Let us know what you do during closed season.
