What a year it has been admittedly we were a tad late to the theme park season however we sure made up for it! Let’s have a chat and discuss it all…
BPB or Pleasure Bech Resort As You Call It:
One of the first theme parks of the 2024 season was, of course, Pleasure Beach. It was a lot of fun. It just felt actually warming and quite special especially visiting as a family for Liara’s first theme park and first few rides too. Of course, aside from my sentimental connection. The park was looking rather mix-matched. Yes, it looked fresh in areas and the latest additions to the Ghost Train are always welcome and a pleasure to experience. Of course, finally got to ride Valhalla and landed myself a total pristine run through so no whines at all from me there. Although the park has this undertone greater changes are coming in the imminent future. It feels jittery and ready for the fresh era. The loss of Grand Prix, the unexplained closure of River Caves & the uncertainty regarding Ice Blast and the end of the season closure of other areas like the arcade opposite River Caves. It hits me as some transformations are in the pipeline and it’s the birth of a refresh that’s been a must for a little while now. I could be mistaken but I don’t feel PB are doing these things for fun somehow.
Nemesis Was Reborn:
A beautiful new vision on the very iconic UK rollercoaster Nemesis but Nemesis has been Reborn! I adore the surrounding growths to the landscaping, facade, plaza and area as a whole. Visually it has come on leaps and bounds to how they were left in 2022. But the storytelling has taken on a new chapter that’s what makes this outstanding. I love the story but to see the park adapting that into its own rightfully so area is just terrific. As for the ride itself, yeah, it was incredible getting back on but for me, there was too much rattle and bounce during the final section of the ride that did take a little bit away. But still fun.
Raced With A Giant Lego Figure:
Racing along the tracks within Legoland is so much fun. This coaster or coasters shall I say? It is exactly what Legoland needed and has given the park that new bit of life that caters to everyone. It’s not overly themed at all it’s the ideal quantity of theming. You have the giant Roxy which is enormous in person quite the shock. We’ve only done one side of the track so excited to try the other next year.
Reached New Heights with Hyperia:
Excuse me, I may not have spoken of my utter obsession with this coaster. Hyperia, Hyperia, Hyperia. Wow, what a ride. I’ve never been taken back so strongly before in my life. It was breathtaking, mind-blowing and so vicious. There’s so much to comprehend & unpack. Thorpe Park has ripped off the crown quite effortlessly for the UK’s best rollercoaster. I’m frantic to get back down South to ride it one or 5 more times. There are so many rows we still need to try and explore as we were mid-train and got given that kind of ride I can only assume what the back & front would be like. The entire team smashed it out of the park and it was well worth every second of the wait. I simply worship Hyperia and Ant loves it equally as much.
Ghouls and Spook Season:
I went through a surprisingly rocky time with a spooky season. I found myself not remotely getting overly fearful like I used to and almost feeling saddened by the fact that scare mazes weren’t hitting like they used to. That was until I met my favourite spooky place to visit which was The Howl. My goodness, this place hit me hard with all the love and feelings I once felt for spooky season come surging back. What an absolute dream and a way to end a spooky season. I am so very ready to return next year.
Hotel Rooms & Zoos:
We haven’t stayed in many hotels this year if not only one. Which was our recent stay at the spectacular Chessington Safari Hotel in their Giraffe Room what a gorgeous wholesome stay we had. We have visited a fair few zoos this year including Drayton Manor. Twycross, Chester & Chessington. Of course, zoo days have become a family thing for us now although Liara does tend to sleep 97% of the time it’s still nice. I’m eager to explore more and am definitely on the search for more themed family hotel stays for us too. Keep your eyes peeled for 2025!
