Trip Report | Opening Day at Legoland Windsor – March 2023

Firstly, who else is thankful the 2023 Theme park season is back? Because I sure am. So, we started the UK season at Legoland Windsor which was a refreshing change! But let’s have a chat how our day went & all things Lego!

Crowd Levels:

Opening day was on a Friday in the middle of March. We expected it to be incredibly quiet which queue times across the rides it was. But looking at the car park it seemed a lot busier than it was. But overall any weekday at Legoland is a lovely time to visit as you can smash through the park without missing anything.

Merchandise:

For me, I feel Legoland Windsor for the ride merchandise is probably one of the weakest. There’s more than can be done for sure. However, all things Lego then it’s heaven. But I do wish we had more bits & bobs from Flight of the Skylion merch but that’s me!

Food Outlets / Picnic Areas:

The food outlets across the park seem to have their prices increased which can be predicted given the living crisis happening right now. Hot dogs are now priced at £8 with pizza & pasta buffet been £17.50. However, we brought our own food into the park but then struggled to find anywhere which was sheltered to eat. So, the more sheltered picnic would be fab to see in the future.

The Rides:

All of the rides had fab reliability throughout the day. It was so delightful to see all of the rides looking fresh and in such brilliant condition. The Dragon’s indoor section looked stunning and everything was working perhaps even some fresh effects I believe. It was amazing to experience Flight of the Skylion again. It’s one of my firm favourites at the park.

It’s worth mentioning that currently, the Hill Top Train which ferries you from the top of the park to the bottom & visa versa isn’t operating, unfortunately. It does seem they are doing some work to the upper station so hopefully, that’ll be back soon.

Changes:

There are always improvements made across closed seasons over the whole park. I can’t place anything too significant that’s changed of at least I didn’t notice anything. But there are some very exciting attractions set to open across the next few months & years.

Upcoming Attractions:

Legoland Windsor is always providing us with new attractions every season. This year we have a brand new attraction where you can build your own a Ferrari car and race it. Which is very exciting. This summer will also see the opening of their new golf. I believe there’s 4 different 9 hole courses and you can prebook now.. link HERE. Then coming up next year there’ll be new accommodation opening as well as their brand new duelling rollercoaster. As I said before Legoland does treat us well. We can’t wait to experience all of the above!

Overall:

It’s always a lovely time when visiting Legoland Windsor. I find the atmosphere of the park to be so uplifting and cheerful. There’s always so much to see and do when taking it all in. After all it has one of the best UK dark rides in Flight of the Skylion. It’s gorgeously themed and altogether one of my favourite places to visit.
