2021 saw a fairly unusual approach to giving guests filler rides at Alton Towers. One of which I weren\u2019t particularly keen on and doubted how they would slot into each area, to begin with, but when seen them in action it just worked so well it was tough to challenge them. I couldn\u2019t comprehend some of the rollercoaster queues if these rides weren\u2019t on offer. So, will they return for next season? Let\u2019s have a chin wag! <\/span><\/p>\n

In all honesty, I can see this group of rides returning until their spaces are fulfilled with permanent additions. However, I do not assume there\u2019ll be the same ride type. I think we\u2019ll see each of those areas get restored one season at a time with each of the other Retro Squad locations returning in various formats.<\/span><\/p>\n

By all means, I could be entirely off the mark and they may not return at all or return as the same rides they left. But I believe these were a tremendous accomplishments. It was rare to see any of them without at least a 10-minute queue during our visits at least. They also really came in useful especially over in Dark Forest & X Sector during Thirteen & The Smiler\u2019s closed days. They held a queue well which also helped avoid adding volumes onto the rollercoasters in each area.\"\" <\/span><\/p>\n

They served the objective they were put in for quote effortlessly in all honesty. Of course, guest favourites were pretty apparent with Funk\u2019n\u2019Fly and Mixtape. I found I saw more disappointing reviews on Roller Disco and I\u2019ll acknowledge it was my least favourite too. It just felt a tad too gentle for waltzers.\"\" <\/span><\/p>\n

So, short answer is yes I do think there\u2019ll return. But I don\u2019t think it\u2019ll be the same rides as this season. I think we\u2019ll see a mix-up and I think if they do head down the route I suspect it will be profitable in keeping guests keen. I\u2019d love to see each location obtain a more permanent and themed to the area style of the flat ride in the long term. However, for now, I\u2019d love to see these spaces replenished with fresh rides until a proper flat is doable. It\u2019s just amazing to see a lack of empty spaces across the park. <\/span><\/p>\n
