Or perhaps it\u2019s in your face yet doesn\u2019t get acknowledged enough. I love nods to the past even though the park is heading towards the future. So here are some of the things I love at theme parks which perhaps you\u2019ve not noticed or it hasn\u2019t been spoken about much. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\">Princess Diana\u2019s Logger Leaps Memorial:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you head into Old Town at Thorpe Park where Loggers Leap once operated, there\u2019s a memorial boat for Princess Diana. I feel this is easily missable given there\u2019s not all that much in the area to do outside of Fright Nights. But it\u2019s a small touch and nod to its history as no doubt you\u2019ve all seen the iconic pictures of her riding this log flume with her two sons!<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7020 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.coastersonthecoast.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/D68C381A-1107-4542-838F-BEA29819759E.jpeg?resize=292%2C173&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"173\" \/> <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\">Geoffrey Thompson at Blackpool Pleasure Beach:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I find it moving to the amount of nods to this iconic owner of Pleasure Beach. He gave us some of the most loved rides that still stand today like Valhalla &amp; Big One. But if you take a ride on the Pleasure Beach Express you\u2019ll notice there\u2019s a train named after him. It\u2019s a small nod but something which lives on. But this was the first thrill rollercoaster to open at Alton Towers and it was well known for the double barrel roll. Therefore Alton Towers has popped that element on their plaza. Yet this statue has remained during the changes to the area. It still remains today. It\u2019s a nice way to remember the various changes over the years &amp; even after its rehaul to remain a part of the area is a lovely way to never forget. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"s1\">Vintage Merchandise:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Something which started at Alton Towers but spread widely across to Blackpool Pleasure Beach &amp; other Merlin theme parks. Vintage merchandise. These items are past rides that are no longer at the park. Often the pin badges will have the year of opening to the year of closure. I\u2019m personally a huge fan of this retail line. It\u2019s a beautiful way to always have something to remember these rides from whether you experienced them or not.
