It has been 21 years since Colossus opened up for guests to enjoy, isn\u2019t that insane? Within my time in this community, this coaster has always divided impressions and it\u2019s one of those you either love or hate roller coasters so it seems. Coming into this community I learned it has a strong reputation for being \u201crough\u201d but is it as awful as people make it out to be? Let\u2019s discuss the highs & lows of Colossus!<\/span><\/p>\n

The Highs:<\/span><\/h3>\n

Starting on a positive. The conventional track layout is stunning. It has those lovely airtime hills & was once the record holder for the number of inversions at 10. As much as the station needs a small amount of love it resembles a well-themed vibe. As I mentioned above the layout is flawless it is well spread out with some really good moments to be appreciated. I also quite enjoy the audio the older version & new. Let\u2019s not forget the fact it is a Thorpe Park classic.\"\" <\/span><\/p>\n

The Lows:<\/span><\/h3>\n

I reckon the lows are easily fixable things. The carriages are far too cramped it is extremely uncomfortable to get in & out of. Whether you’re a small or tall person it is a mission to get in & out even if your sat on the nearest seat you still have the battle of climbing across to get in or out. This then leads onto the next point which is the too big & bulky restraints that lead to head bashing throughout and anyone who\u2019s a touch above skinny or has broad shoulders being unable to ride. All of the low points are easy-to-fix problems in my opinion by all means I could be wrong.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Improvements:<\/span><\/h3>\n

I would love to see it receive new carriages with lap bar style of restraints to add to that improvement. I\u2019m no expert and nor am I saying it\u2019s viable change to be made given there\u2019ll of course be a budget in place. But as a suggestion that would be ideal. I\u2019d love to see inside the station and get a lick of TLC. After all, it is getting some love with the track that\u2019s been replaced or refurbished which is a positive sign to see it receiving some care.\"\" <\/span><\/p>\n

Overall:<\/span><\/h3>\n

Colossus in my opinion is nowhere near as bad as it is typically made out to be. It is an enjoyable ride experience in regards to the layout however it could be words apart if it received a more modern carriage style to prevent the head-bashing & more importantly be more inclusive to all body shapes & sizes.\"\" <\/span><\/p>\n
