What a time for the UK theme parks? There are new rollercoasters, rides & attractions opening up all over! But today’s focus is all on Legoland Windsor & their new surfaced rollercoaster planning application! Let\u2019s have a chat, shall we?<\/span><\/p>\n

Recently becoming known on social media are the plans for a duelling of what seems to be a boomerang rollercoaster at Legoland Windsor. The park currently only has 3 rollercoasters which would mean the two new ones would boost their offering to 5. As it\u2019s a duelling rollercoaster the throughputs will be double which is something that has to happen given Legoland is one of the most popular UK theme parks. We don\u2019t know an awful lot just yet except for the fact this is supposed to replace the currently standing Raft Racers which are two water slides that have not been operational for some time now. <\/span><\/p>\n

In regards to manufacturer characteristics, this is yet to be verified. Although we know Vekoma offer Boomerang style rollercoasters and there is a duelling one out there in the world. But Legoland tends to use Zierer for their other rollercoasters therefore a relationship is already established. At present Zierer hasn\u2019t done this style of a rollercoaster but that\u2019s not to say they won\u2019t be sharing a prototype. But all of that is purely speculation.<\/span><\/p>\n

These plans appear to be proposed as a lawful document rather than a planning application. This generally means they have permission already to build upon this site but just want the locals & businesses to support this idea. Or at least that\u2019s what I make from it. I\u2019m not an official and nor do I know that exactly. <\/span><\/p>\n

So, the wording of the said document makes it appear this could be a 2024 opening. Which would make sense and assist in propelling the traffic down South with Project Exodus less than half an hour away and set to open in the same year. They are hardly going to go head to head as they are aimed at two very distinct markets to one. In regards to theming, I\u2019m completely out of the loop in regards to Lego themes, therefore, I have no idea about that!<\/span><\/p>\n

To me, it is terrific to see Legoland investing yet again. With each of the investments, they have only gotten better. This is a project I\u2019m incredibly thrilled to follow alongside. <\/span><\/p>\n
