Last weekend we shared our review from when we stayed in Pleasure Beach’s newest hotel Boulevard Hotel. This Sunday we will be reviewing the other on site hotel Big Blue. We hope you enjoy this blog post and it’s somewhat useful for anyone looking to stay.
Car Parking:
Very much the same as the Boulevard Hotel in regards to pricing. There is not much difference at all except for the fact you don’t have coaster supports in the car park too.
Access To Pleasure Beach:
Of course you still gain access to the VIP entrance which you enter into Pleasure Beach and end up right next to Skyforce. Therefore it is very easy to join the queues for Big One, Icon and Steeplechase three of the main coaster line up. You can collect your wristbands from the reception of your hotel as well which also saves a lot of time and queuing. A more recent edition that has been introduced is the Pleasure Beach Express train now picks up hotel guest from the main station at 4:30 only and stops at the second station which means you end up at the front of The Boulevard Hotel. It’s something which is a huge help for those staying in either hotel or any hotel within the south promenade area of Blackpool. We just hope this train does more than one drop off else you do unfortunately miss the final half hour on park.
Distance from Main Entrance / Other Attractions:
This hotel is just a couple minutes from the Boulevard therefore there’s no difference at all from what we said in that review.
Family Deluxe Room:
We originally booked a standard double room but during check in we got informed they upgraded us free of charge to a family suite. Of course it was just us two so the extra beds never got used again. However we were incredibly lucky to have a park view from our window which kept us very entertained whenever we were in the room.
The room was visually beautiful and even more so once you see the gorgeous canvas on the wall of the entire park. As for the bed it was the largest bed we’ve ever stayed in and extremely comfortable too. Similar to the Boulevard Hotel the bed was fairly firm which may not be everyone’s preference but for us it was lush. Of course our room had blacked out curtains which simply was perfect for not being woken up by the light. As for rides testing by the window we were luckily awake by time they had begun testing therefore they never woke us up.
The bathroom was gorgeous and came with free toiletries just like The Boulevard Hotel. This bathroom had a heated towel rack too which was lush given the fact Storm Dennis was intruding on our weekend away. The bath seemed to be a full size bath if not the smallest bit bigger which is quite hard to come by in many hotels.
Of course the room consisted of different mirrors of all sizes and hairdryer. We did have two bunk beds in the room as well just like Boulevard hotel. The TV wasn’t all that big and definitely needs updating to a more modern one with HDMI ports. Of course there was tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits available in our room too. Unfortunately there was no fridge this time unlike the Boulevard Hotel which wasn’t an issue for us but worth knowing in case you expect one.
Breakfast:
Of course this runs the exact same time as Boulevard so 7:30 – 10:30am. There is not as much of a selection as the other hotel but still a fair amount which was decent quality too. We found the best time to have breakfast was around 8am as it was lovely and quiet therefore comfort levels were perfect to enjoy breakfast in. Staff were lovely as ever.
Overall:
I would definitely stay in this hotel again. By all means Boulevard is definitely more modern and higher quality all told. But this hotel is perfect for the price you pay in our opinion. We paid around £180 including parking for 2 nights and would say for sure it is worth every penny. It has comfort to it and all round perfect location as it’s so easy to get into Pleasure Beach. By all means if the Boulevard hotel was £20-£30 difference in money we would pay it. But The Big Blue is fab. We would highly recommend anyone to stay here.
