2024 is set to be a BIG year for the UK theme park industry with an entire combination of new and rejuvenating transitions happening across several theme parks. So, here is a rundown on what to expect coming in 2024.
Drayton Manor Park – New Intamin Rollercoaster & Changes To Shockwave:
Drayton Manor are set to open their brand new family thrill Intamin lift & launch rollercoaster in 2024. The theming has been kept under wraps alongside the name for the time being. This is the first rollercoaster to be built at the park since 2011 when once known as Ben 10 Ultimate Mission opened its doors. The end of the 2023 season saw the end of an era with the Shockwave we know and value today & for the last 29 years. However, this is set to become a distant version of itself with brand-new sit-down trains, a fresh theme and a brand-new name. With regards to the more modern version of this coaster, there’s little to no indication as to what to anticipate but we do know the sit-down trains allow the height restriction to be decreased to facilitate their wider targeted audience to enjoy.
Thorpe Park – Hyperia, Big Easy Boulevard & Logo
It’s a monumental season for Thorpe Park next year with so many changes happening across the park. Firstly, the UK’s new recording holding rollercoaster for height & speed is set to open to the public in Spring and we now know will be known as Hyperia. Whilst this is exciting news is enough of a reason to visit the retired Angry Birds Land is transforming to a brand new themed Big Easy Boulevard! It seems this re-theme is set to join the two parts of Amity Cove into one whilst keeping up the brightly coloured buildings of Angry Birds Land. The rides within this area are staying put just having a theme change across them all. All of the concept art looks stunning for the area and it really does keep up that feel-good-looking vibe from Amity which is fab! Very intrigued to hear the soundtrack for the area. Not to forget the reveal of the brand new logo for the park. As much as this logo has split opinions I do feel it’ll be one of those things which grow on us the more we see it incorporated into everyday use across the park once it reopens for the 2024 season. The park is about to head into one of its biggest eras yet with the opening of Hyperia so I guess it was only right to commence that new voyage with a new look to match.
Alton Towers – Nemesis Is Back!!
The 1994 classic is reopening after the Phalanx contained her but in a totally new lease of life, Nemesis is home. With a brand new track excluding the lift hill & brake run alongside a reenergized colour scheme and no doubt further expansions within the story we all love. She returns once again with a revived appeal & a lifetime of charming more riders for decades to come. Where we are in the story of Nemesis remains a mystery for now but at least we can sit back after all it is fright time once again…
Legoland Windsor – Minifigure Speedway & Woodland Village:
Legoland Windsor is opening their brand new duelling racing rollercoasters set to open in 2024. It’s apparent this coaster will be themed to racing which is exciting and makes perfect sense given they are duelling. We now know the name which is Minifigure Speedway which is cute but makes me incredibly intrigued to see the trains. Meanwhile outside of the park and in regards to on-site accommodations the brand new Woodland Village is due to open in May 2024. This style of accommodation appears to be relatively comparable to the likes of the Enchanted Village over at Alton Towers. You can book your stay today and here’s the link to do so – BOOK NOW!
